's SMK XS78 Part I Dec 2, 2009

SMK standard XS78 .22 Take I - Shooting as it came and after some mods. Upgraded with GMAC sighted silencer adaptor and bolt handle from http://www.gmaccustomparts.com. Switched the deluxe triggergroup and stock with the .177 QB Deluxe. Tweaked this XS 78 with help from the lads @ http://ukchineseairgunforum.myfreeforum.org The second Chrony string shown was made before tapering the valve stem and making the piercing pin disk dia smaller. A new chrony string to follow aswell as grouping @ 10 meter using a 4x scope.

Final mods: added brass GMAC parts, polished the inside of the hammer unit and did 10 shots on the Chrony. Polishing the inside of the hammerunit proved to be a huge improvement, no need to preload the hammer spring anymore. A Chrony test proved preloading doesn't make any difference performance wise, without preloading the curve of the string is much better. Best chrony results when pausing 15 minutes between shots because the CO2 cools the rifle down in this state of tune. I paused 1 minute between shots because I wanted to finish this vid and am not that patient.

Nothing much this vid, just a recording of the first shot after warming up the rifle to 72 Fahrenheit. First shot 736 fps, the second shot right after the first, no pausing, was 716 fps. First 10 shots without pausing in between shots tend to average +700 fps. CO2 cools the rifle down. Better performance may be expected during summer. Pausing between shots an let the rifle warm up again helps improve performance too.
