Brutuz62's SMK XS79 Part I May 15, 2011
This is a video about my bolt action .177 cal SMK XS79, aka
QB79, aka "Techforce 79 tanker", allthough the
Techforce 79 has got a nicer stock.
SMK XS79 & 88 gram adaptor bought from Dave (Fatman). Bolt
handle & silencer made by & bought from Dave
(PorkyYorky). Sighted silencer adaptor bought from http://www.gmaccustomparts.com.
Sealkit & replacement screws bought from Will (Welsh Willy) http://www.woodfield.co.uk.
Quick change 12g CO2 adaptor bought from http://www.rap4uk.com. Tuning
how to's for free at http://ukchineseairgunforum.myfreeforum.org
(thanks).
No mods done to the striker block, no preload to the
hammerspring, no weaker valvespring used. While waiting for the
12 gram adaptor fitted the PorkyYorky replacement bolt handle and
filed a notch into the stock. Allthough it's a pre-owned rifle it
was technically untouched when I received it. De-burred scew-hole
inside breech to prevent barrel o-rings from clipping. Fitted new
o-rings on barrel, lubed with silicone grease the o-rings came
in. Enlarged probehole, ellipse shape forward direction. Fitted
new o-ring on probe, lubed with pellgunoil. Lubed bolt (thin coat
nd-oil). Replaced transferport seal after cutting off a few mm
first to prevent it from crushing. Reassembled rifle. Had become
a bit noisier. Did an accuracy test, outdoors, 13/14 yards, open
sights, sitting, elbow supported. Valve work: Tapered the
piercing pin, removed the filter, notched the washer, drilled two
holes in the valve body. Rifle has become even nosier now, glaf
silencers aren't prohibited in the Netherlands so fitted a Gmac
adaptor + PorkyYorky shorty silencer which was custom made for
one of my pistols. Remarkable that performance is lower when
using the 88 gram adaptor. Flattened the bottom side of the
breech where the tp seal goes. Flattened the valve's exhaust port
surface, enlarged the bottom valve screw hole to allign the top
port hole 100% and came up with a mod to keep the tp seal
centered while reassembling the rifle. After several attempts
with tp seal height got it to seal 100%. I've used a piece cut
off from a valve rubber for woods valves, Google Valve rubber for
woods valves to see what I've used. I've "invented" a
similar mod using Valve rubber for woods valves to seal the top
side of the valve-to-barrel sleeve of my Crosman 13xx'es and
22xx'es a few years ago. The 79 performs quite good now, happy
with the results. An 88 gram does not perform as good as the 12
gram adaptor though, must be the adaptor causing a more
restricted flow.
